Who Are the Friends of Bates Beach?
Friends of Bates Beach is an important part of the Carpinteria volunteer community:
• We sponsor an annual Beach Cleanup Day in September and a Kite Flying Day every July.
• We support the proposed California Coastal Trail extension to the Ventura County line.
• We actively encourage beach tourists to support the local businesses, restaurants, hotels in Carpinteria.
• We back the extension of the existing local bus lines an extra half-mile so they include a stop at Bates Beach.
• We support the organization of a Neighborhood Beach Watch to reduce the growing crime threat on and above the beach area.
• We advocate the restoration of the clothing-optional section at the northern end of Bates Beach.
